Richmond's Demore suiting up for Canada

Richmond's Marina Demore will suit up for Team Canada at the Scotiabank Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship which begins Friday in Surrey.

Demore is joining the senior women's national team for the first time, after earning invitations to the final selection camps in each of the last four years. She just recently completed her junior year with the Oregon State Beavers.

All told, the 19-player Canadian roster features five Lower Mainland athletes.

Team Canada will face off against other top national teams from Japan, USA, Australia,

Venezuela, New Zealand and Puerto Rico in the International Women?s Division, which

runs from July 4-9.
